ForeUI FAQ

This page will be updated when needed.

Q: Why ForeUI use this brown look and feel?

A: ForeUI can create high-fidelity prototypes with the "Windows XP" and "Mac OS X" UI themes, to avoid mixing up the prototype content and the tool itself, we use EaSynth look and feel as the default setting. If you want to use the system look and feel, you can still change the look and feel in the menu "Advanced->Settings".

Q: What is the limitation of the trial version?

A: The trial version can work with all features for 15 days. After 15 days, the trial version can still work but without the ability to save or export plot files.

Q: Will you provide more elements?

A: Sure. We will add more predefined elements. For those that can be consist of predefined elements (such as toolbar element), we will provide them as customized elements. What's more, ForeUI user community is coming soon, you will be able to share your design with others, and you can download the design from others.

Q: How to install the "Minimal Bundle"?

A: First make sure you have installed JRE5 or above in your system, the way to check this is to type "java -version" in the command line terminal. In Mac OS X and Solaris, the JRE is installed by default.

The second step is to extract the .tar.gz file to a folder. It can be done in various ways for different platforms:

  • Windows: you need a third-party tool to extract it, like 7-ZIP, WinZip or WinRAR etc.
  • Linux: use the command "tar -zxvf ForeUI.tar.gz"
  • Solaris: use "gunzip ForeUI.tar.gz" and then "tar -vxf ForeUI.tar"
  • Mac OS X: use the Archive Utility to extract the file.

The final step is to launch the application:

  • Windows: double-click the ForeUI.exe file.
  • Linux/Solaris: run the shell script "launch.sh"
  • Mac OS X: double-click the launch.jar file.

Q: If I buy a license of ForeUI, can I use it on both my laptop and desktop PC?

A: Yes. The ForeUI license is bound to user instead of machine, you can use it on any machine you own. However you can not share your license key with others.

Q: I clicked the "Run Simulation" button, but it does not work?

A: If you are using VISTA and your ForeUI version is lower than 1.65, it may be caused by the privilege of account, just update your ForeUI to latest version to fix this. If you are using Mac OS X, please check if you have multiple copies of ForeUI installed in your system, removing the duplicated installation may work it out.
