Best UX is the Goal

We refactor the source code, a lot, in order to achieve a better user experience.  In details, We improved the element selecting, moving and resizing behavior, which are the most frequently used features, and will significantly affact the UX.

There is no new feature implemented in the last two days, but we think the drag and drop framework is more important than that. We set the best user experience as our goal.

Progress Update

Now we finished the commands for text formatting, and improved the float tool bar for selected elements.
The flot tool bar can now be moved out of the plot area (but still within the doc page).
We decide to let the application support multiple plot editng, it will be a big update.

The First Screenshot of ForeUI

In the pass two weeks, we worked hard on ForeUI project.  We wish that we could make an alpha version at the end of February, so that we could invite my friends to review it.

So far the progress is good, the application can support 3 kinds of basic elements now: Button, Text and Image.  The editing area can support multiple selection, drag-and-drop to move or resize the selection, snap the movement and resizing to grids… We want to make it user-friendly, and we hope our advisors will also think so:-)

ForeUI Blog Started

Hello everyone, I am very happy to announce that the ForeUI blog is started now!

About two weeks ago, we decide to give ForeUI a go.  ForeUI will be a very user friendly desktop tool, which can help prototying the UI of new software (or website).

I have evaluated some similar tools before, but I think they are too “specialized”, they will be quite understandable for programmers, but not for non-technical persons.   The truth is, the UI prototype of new product may come from our clients, our boss, our art design experts or somebody else, all people may need to sit together and discuss the use cases.  So a common prototyping tool for all these people is needed, and it should be friendly to both technical people and non-technical people.

So I  insist on pushing ForeUI.  I believe ForeUI will create a bridge between technical expects and non-technical persons.  Since it will be developed with Java, it can be used on Windows, UNIX, Linux and Mac platform, it can also be used in web browser as a Java applet.
